The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Highway Subcommittee on Maintenance and the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Maintenance Committees organize and conduct conferences every three years to provide information on the state-of-the-art in maintenance operations and management to professionals responsible for maintaining highways. Areas of interest correspond to the AASHTO Task Force and Focus Group areas of bridges, contract maintenance, equipment, management systems, pavements, performance measures, research, roadside & environment, snow & ice, traffic services & safety, and workforce development. The 12th Maintenance Management Conference is being hosted by the Maryland Department of Transportation in July 2009 and cosponsored by the Federal Highway Administration. Abstracts are due June 1, 2008.
